The Brutally Truth About a Having Chiseled Jawline
Although a lot of Books, website and product reviews promise miraculous results of a Chiseled Jawline. But any evidence that suggest that facial exercise actually work in giving you a sharp jawline and slimming cheeks is anecdotal. There is little to no clinical research to back it up. First I would like to clarify a few things.
Jaw is developed till 16 for girls and 18 for boys. After that the changes in jaw are negligible.
If you are over weight or have high facial fat, and you get a sharp jawline by losing weight then it does not mean your jaw developed due to facial your exercise. It was already there just covered in fats.
A person who has genes for a weak jawline and he/she is an adult then exercises wont give a sharp jawline. If you are an adult then you can only get it through surgery. There are no exercises that would get you a chiseled jawline.
The facial exercises will only help you maintain your jawline when you get older and will help you look young. I would like to explain it to you.
The shape of your Jaw depends upon several factors like:
- You genetics
- Your tongue position
- The type of food you ate as a child
Genetics:
You are a product of the genes that you inherited from your parents.
If your parents have sharp jawline then there are high chances that you would also get a sharp jawline even if you dont excersice it and vice versa.
Your tongue position:
The jaw growth stops at the age of 16 for girls and 18 for boys.
So while your jaw is growing if you place your tongue against the upper pallet, this will support your maxilla which is also called the beauty bone.

Your tongue will apply pressure on maxilla causing to grow and widen which will result in your face being wide and broad with a sharp jawline.
This technique is called mewing. It will also give you a good definition of cheekbones and fix your teeth.
This is especially true for someone who has a genetically weak jaw. If you genetically have a sharp jawline then it will enhance these features.
What you ate as a child:
If you chewed hard food as a child then chances are your jaw is going to be strong. Because the muscles in your face will be stronger which will automatically give you a defined jaw.
The effects of Clenching the jaw, excessive chewing:
You might say what’s wrong with clenching my jaw or with excessive chewing. Well, they have the potential to cause great damage.
Your jaw connects to your skull at the temporomandibular joints. These are complex joints designed to give your jaw maximum freedom and strength. But this makes them vulnerable, particularly to repetitive high stress.
If you clench you jaw or you chew gum for hours or you use some tool for it, then it can put excessive stress on the jaw joint.
This repetitive stress on the jaw joint, can contribute to jaw joint damage, leading to temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ).
Conclusion:
Don’t be mislead by fake before and after photos. Do any facial exercises. As we age, we lose facial fat which results in a more angular face. This has nothing to do with facial exercise.
